I am using the Multichoice survey option and have 12 answer checkboxes for the question. I would like to have it so not more than 5 answers checkboxes can be checked for the question.

I can provide guidance, but not write the code for you. You could add a new attribute that asks for the max # of allowed choices, and then use that in the display and validation.
