Using URL Rewrite Tool for SES
05/03/11 6:12 PM

Greetings, I am sure this is a really dumb question but I have to ask. I just setup the CanvasWiki system on our IIS7 server/CF9. And am trying to get the User-friendly URLs setup using the URL Rewrite tool from Microsoft.

URL Rewrite tool has a rule generator for the site/wiki to use. The first item it asks for is the internal URL that is generated by the web app, I would assume should be processed as http://wiki.localhost/index.cfm?Special=Categories. However this is incorrect I know.

Then end result is in fact http://wiki.localhost/index.cfm/Special.Categories. So what would be the correct internal URL for the page above.

Thank you in advance and again my apologies I am new to SES/URL Rewrite.

Just an update, I looked in the web.xml file and found all the information I needed to comment out, but I am assuming that because I am using CF9 this was already taken care of. Also within IIS7 I changed the Request Restrictions to Invoke handler only if request is mapped to: File or Folder for .cfm files. Thanks again.

No I just wanted to update you on what I had tried so far with the pages still not working correctly. Sorry for the confusion.

Maybe I'm confused then. You want to use different URLs with Canvas?

No sorry to be confusing. I just don't quite understand what I might have missed in the setup. Here is the URL http://wiki.msuextension.org. It just seems to be with the user friendly URL's. I was trying to use other options to setup the URL Rewrite since the instructions were for an older version of CF. Thanks again.

Oh sorry I misread your issue. Hmm. First off - you should not be tweaking anything in IIS.

Check to see if you have "Check for script existence" turned on. That's in IIS - and the verbiage may be a bit different.

In IIS 7 it looks a little different. But I did follow the steps for allowing .cfm, cfml and .cfc handlers to the proper settings. Still no luck.

Let's remove Canvas from the picture. In web root, write a simple index.cfm page that cfdump's the CGI scope. Then try going to /index.cfm/iisStinks

and see if you get a 404 there.

I do not get a 404 when I created this page page.

Here is the URL:http://www.msuextension.org/temp/index.cfm/iisStinks
