Upgrading from old soundings to Soundings 3
07/22/09 9:33 AM

We had an old version of soundings (before 2.0) and we are looking to upgrade to the newest version (soundings 3).

I'm having trouble migrating old data to the new DB, because the new DB has some new fields (specifically in the surveys table) and a pair of new tables. (we are using ms sql).

In the installation script, I decided to try to mimic the new database, but put some 'allow nulls' in the new fields, and some 'defaults' in the new fields and tables so that it would be functional.

It worked, but I have tons of strange bugs which don't exist in a fresh install.

Is there any documentation on upgrading from an older version of soundings? Or at least a way to migrate data from an old version of soundings to a new one?

Thanks,
-McColgan

The readme file always details changes. What you want to do is find your old version in the readme, then 'read up' to see what has changed and what you must do.
